CONNECTICUT AOH & LAOH 2009 STATE CONVENTION

The 2009 Connecticut AOH and LAOH State Convention will be held June 12 and 13 hosted by the members of Stamford AOH and LAOH Divisions. The City of Stamford welcomes all delegates for the historic event. The 2009 Host Committee has been working hard to provide delegates and guests to this year’s convention a memorable stay.

PUB NIGHT
Convention weekend begins Friday evening June 12th at the AOH hall with a Social Night beginning 6 p.m. with a cash bar. An Italian style meal will be available at 7 p.m. Entertainment will be provided by the Fairfield Gaelic American Club Pipe & Drum Band. Come join us for a night of food, drink & fun. Please fill out and return the Convention Social Reservation form by June 1.

HOTEL
The Convention Hotel will be the Holiday Inn Select, 700 Main Street, Stamford, phone: (203) 358-8400. We have a block of rooms reserved for a special rate of $89.00 per night. Please call and make your reservation specifying “AOH” as soon as possible.

SATURDAY REGISTRATION & MEETINGS
The 2009 convention opens on Saturday June 9th with registration beginning at 8:00 AM. A continental breakfast will be served compliments of the host divisions. Our joint meeting begins at 9:30 PM followed by the men’s and ladies meetings. A luncheon will be provided by the hosts. AOH and LAOH. Men's Delegate Registration Forms are available here. Ladies should contact their division President. Delegate registration is $25.00 for both AOH and LAOH Delegates. Checks should be made to the Stamford AOH or LAOH respectively and sent to your State Secretary.

CONVENTION MASS
The Convention Mass will be celebrated at 4:00 PM at St. John’s Church located at 279 Atlantic Street in the center of downtown Stamford. It is about a half mile, or about 5 minutes from AOH Hall. Given that some members may be involved with meetings beyond this time, attendance at Mass will be optional. Those who cannot attend will be able to attend a Mass in the home parish church on Sunday.

CONVENTION BANQUET
Following Mass, the Convention Banquet will begin at AOH Hall with a Cocktail Hour (cash bar) and hors d’oeuvres beginning at 6:00 p.m. This will be followed at 7:00 p.m. by the installation of officers and dinner. The Best in Gourmet will provide a very special banquet meal. Entertainment will be provided by Noel McGovern. Tickets for the evening are $45.00 each. Please fill out and return the Banquet Registration form by June 1. Advance ticket purchase for the banquet is required. No tickets will be available at the door.

IN ORDER TO PROVIDE AOH & LAOH MEMBERS FIRST OPPORTUNITY TO ATTEND CONVENTION EVENTS TICKETS TO SOCIAL NIGHT AND THE BANQUET WILL BE AVAILABLE TO MEMBERS AND THEIR GUESTS EXCLUSIVELY UNTIL MAY 15, 2009. TICKETS WILL THEN BE MADE AVAILABLE TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC ON A FIRST PURCHASE BASIS.

ELECTION OF OFFICERS
Unlike in past conventions, it has been decided that our 2009 State Convention will be concluded on Saturday evening. As a result elections of officers will be completed during the afternoon meetings. We request that all current officers bring all records, medallions and sashes to the Convention and surrender them to the respective State Presidents. Our incoming officers will be installed at the Banquet as is done at National Conventions.

CONVENTION JOURNAL
The convention will also feature a Convention Journal at reasonable advertising rates. AOH & LAOH Boards, Divisions, Members or Businesses who wish to advertise should return their information with the Ad Form included to Peter Greene no later than June 1 at 67 Weed Street, New Canaan, CT  06840 or email petergreene@optonline.net. Please remember to make all ad artwork camera ready.
